excavation

excavation started this week. top layer of soil was scraped and infill dirt was used instead.

at the back side of property, sandy soils were encountered, making it hard for trenches to stay stable and not to cave in. everywhere this situation was encountered, we had to overexcavate and infill with infill dirt.

setting the t.o.c.

today we were setting the top of concrete elevations. since we dont own transit, we used bucket and hose method. first we set horizontal plane by defining same elavation at each corner. than theese reference points were used to rise or lower the floor plane as we needed it. once we got hold of this methot, it was easy and quick process. even more precise than transit.

the whole miracle is hose, on one end attached to the bucket, on the other end to a clear plastic tube. add water and it will seek its level.
