Nice design. I'm curious to what your cost will be for the SIPS and home start up construction. I'm planning on building a home too. However, I will not have a garage, but a car port. I look forward to following your blog.
we are going back and forth between SIPs and double framed wall with staggered studs, and currently leaning towards DFW. it will cost us about half of what would SIPs cost. (including material and labor). our SIP quotes (including wall and roof material only) ranged from $22,000 up to over $70,000.
we looked in this option too but we were recommended to connect all the white borders' 2x8 support lumber to connect directly to sheathing instead of connecting through additional layer of rigid. if we were to do simpler exterior system we would probably go that way.

ReplyDeletehmmm, you could consider the swedish methods - go to a 2x8 stud and an inch or two of insulation outside the sheathing.
