  1. Hi Branislav,

I have just found your blog and am looking forward to viewing your progress over the coming months. My family has just embarked on construction of a modern home as well and it is detailed here: http://wayne-egan.blogspot.com/

I wanted to ask you about window placement. Looks like your windows go down to just above the sill plate. My builder is try to convince me to keep all windows at least 1-ft above the sill plate but does not have a good explantion as to why. Our construction includes a basement and 19-inch floor trusses so all first floor windows will be well above grade. What issues (if any) have you encountered with windows placed this low to the floor. Thanks for any insights.

  2. wayne,
i am not sure why your builder is trying convince you not to have windows sitting right on the floor. only potential problem might be snow sitting against frame in the winter, but that would not be your case. i would say if you want to have windows this way, go for it, and dont let anyone tell you what you are doing is wrong. it is your house, not your builders.
